Islam Makhachev extended his historic UFC winning streak against Ian Garry, but the victory came without much in the way of fireworks.

For much of the fight, Makhachev struggled to create the kind of dominant moments that have defined his championship run. Garry proved difficult to control and even harder to submit, repeatedly preventing Makhachev from turning his grappling advantages into a finish.

The Irish contender, however, offered little of his own during the striking exchanges. The fight often settled into stretches of inactivity on the feet, with neither man able to consistently generate meaningful offense.

The clearest highlight came during a clinch separation. As the fighters broke, Makhachev timed a beautiful head kick that briefly dropped Garry and provided the fight’s biggest moment.

Beyond that sequence, it was largely a tactical and uneventful affair, with Makhachev doing enough to secure the victory and continue his remarkable run.

With the win, Makhachev surpasses Anderson Silva’s long-standing 13-year record and now owns the most consecutive victories in UFC history.

The record is historic. The performance, however, was anything but.

With Ian Garry now behind him, attention turns to what could be next for Makhachev, with Carlos Prates emerging as the likely next challenger.
